Things that Glow in the Night

This is a fun and exciting class.

You will learn to light paint with your camera. Various settings will be discussed and tried. We will play with glowing objects inside the studio and sparklers and streaming car lights outside. (If rain, we will be inside shooting for the night).

A tripod is necessary or can be provided by the studio for $5.00 extra. No prior experience necessary.

External Flash Photography Class

WW II Photography Day

A fun-filled, action-packed day.

Chanticleer Gardens Workshop

Amazing 27 acres of beautiful flowers, sculptures, paths, and trees.

This is one of my very favorite places to spend time photographing and enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the gardens.

I will provide macro lenses for you to try out, close up filters and accessories. Bring whatever gear you own & want to try out and learn more about. Also wear comfortable sneakers. (tripods are welcome but not necessary)

Grounds for Sculpture Workshop

Come join us at Grounds for Sculpture where you’ll have an opportunity to walk through and admire over 270 sculptures. This is a great venue with lots to photograph. We’ll be practicing with lenses and depth of field. As summer warms and lengthens the days, butterflies mix and mingle over the meadows.

Philly in the Summer; Walking Photo Tour

Take great photographs of our beautiful city, Philadelphia. We are VERY fortunate to have an EXPERT tour guide with us as we wander thru Philadelphia and take pictures. He will tell you some stories about the history of Philadelphia, as well as some you may not even know about!

We will be hopping on and off the bus every 15 minutes for as long as we need. There are many sites to see but we hope to be stopping at as many of these listed below. You will have time to take photos and ask questions.

Independence Hall, Penn’s Landing, Spruce St. Harbor Park, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, “Rocky Steps” and statue, LOVE Park, Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, One Liberty Observation Deck, Fairmount Water Works, Boathouse Row, Elfreth Alley

Bring a wide angle lens (approx. 18mm) and whatever gear you like to work with. Kathy will be going over different angles and composition rules. She will be helping each individual with their own specific needs as well.

Additional charge of $5 for an all-day bus pass. Children 4 and under and seniors are always FREE. Meet at Independence Hall 9:30am to get a ticket (see park ranger). SEPTA pass and key card holders ride FREE.

Sunflower Fields

Come join me as we hop on a wagon to get down to a beautiful tremondous sunny field, then walk around and photograph the beauty of the sunflowers in the late afternoon light. Shoot with your Macro or closeup lenses for detailed work to create beauty at it’s finest. Also bring your wide angle lens for some great field shots too!

Meet at the front gate by 3:45 pm to get on the wagon.

Amanda Joins Katydid

A new intern has joined the Katydid Photography team. Amanda is a rising Junior studying journalism at American University in Washington, DC. She is originally from Philadelphia and currently lives in Jamison.

Amanda started taking black and white film photography courses in high school and continued on with these classes in college. She bought her first DSLR a little over one year ago and has grown extremely passionate about photography ever since.

Amanda enjoys shooting portraits, urban settings, and concerts. Her favorite location to shoot is New York City. She is looking forward to expanding her knowledge and growing as a photographer during her summer with Katydid.
